As the rumors go, the new BMW X2 SUV will be presented for the first time at 2016 Paris Motor Show in September. The vehicle is expected to hit the market sometime next year with pricing similar to the X3 rather than to the X1.
The new X2 will be based on the front-wheel drive platform used on the X1, with the styling that follows great examples of the X4 and X6. It will have five doors and the tailgate design will make it look more like a coupe compared to the X1.
More differences from the X1 include a higher rear belt line, smaller rear window, and a more aggressive roofline. As for the similarities between the two models, they will be the most obvious in the interior.
It will come in more than one version: with a 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The future owners can also choose the transmission system. The options include a six-speed manual and a eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The official photos are not expected before August. In the meanwhile, take a look at the rendering above, provided by X-Tomi Design.
