The current-gen BMW X5 M has started to age but it ages like wine. Until now, it is still one of the fastest SUVs in the market – pretty unbelievable for a vehicle its age. Since its debut, a lot of competitors have been released: the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S, the Audi SQ7 TDI, the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus and Tesla Model X. The BMW X5 M proudly still stands as one of the fastest.
Top Gear released a top-ten list of the fastest accelerating SUVs, and the BMW X5 M ranks in a number ten. With its 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8, the X5 M makes a very healthy 567 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Combined with its grippy xDrive all-wheel drive system, the BMW X5 M can get from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. That’s seriously quick in a massive SUV like the X5 M.
The speed game and expectations have definitely changed a lot in the last few years. First place on the top-ten fastest list is the Tesla Model X. In P100D form, it can get from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. That’s something that was unimaginable for anSUV just a few years back. Let’s see how BMW plans to beat all of the competition in the SUV segment in the near future.
