The BMW’s B58 engine proved to be among the best currently available in the world. It has been included in the Wards 10 Best Engines list for 2017.

Judges find this engine slippery fast and incredibly smooth, while consuming less fuel than some of the 4-cyl. turbos we tested. During 12 glorious days of spirited driving, the B58 in the M240i approached 26 mpg (9 L/100 km).
If you remember the last year’s list, you’ll know that B58 was featured there, too. Last year they mentioned the engine from the 340i model, while this year it’s the M240i.
The engines on the list were listed in the alphabetical order, so there’s no first place. They are all amazing.
