The current generation F15 BMW X5 is almost due for a lifespan refresh. BMW is already working on a replacement that will go against the Volvo and Land Rover. A prototype has been spotted testing in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In the video from Copenhagen, the BMW X5 successor makes the aggressive rear haunches large and very noticeable. This gives the new X5 a wider, sportier look. Depending on your eye, this may look like too much for a large vehicle. However, there is also a possibility that BMW is using fake body panels for the prototype.
The video didn’t show it testing on track like what we would have wanted. However, it gives us a good idea about the size and proportions of the SUV. It hasn’t changed a lot compared to the predecessor but it doesn’t need upgrading as well because it already looks good. The similarity of the successor from the predecessor is something that aligns with BMW’s goal of applying rather incremental, evolutionary changes, rather than drastic revolutionary ones.
