BMW has introduced a unique version of its popular X3 SUV, tailored specifically for the Chinese market, where demand for more spacious vehicles is growing. The 2024 BMW X3 features an extended wheelbase, adding 11 centimetres, resulting in 4,865 millimetres and a wheelbase of 2,975 millimetres. Despite the increased size, the vehicle’s width and height remain the same, making it one of the most spacious options in its class.
To cater to Chinese preferences, BMW offers the long-wheelbase X3 with two locally produced four-cylinder engines: the 25L xDrive with 190 PS and the 30L xDrive with 258 PS. Both models come equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an M sports package as standard, including body-coloured elements and titanium bronze accents. The illuminated kidney grille is another standard feature, adding a touch of luxury.
Inside, the X3 boasts two-tone sports seats and optional glass controls. It also offers additional comforts like standard rear legroom cushions and a centre armrest featuring wireless smartphone charging. The panoramic glass roof and optional sky lounge lighting enhance the interior ambience.
This long-wheelbase X3 results from a close collaboration between BMW’s Munich headquarters and its Shenyang site in China, where the vehicle is manufactured. The X3 has proven to be BMW’s best-selling model in China, with its predecessor being the top seller worldwide in 2023. The new model is expected to continue this trend, solidifying the X3’s position in the Chinese market.
