ALPINAs are made to be special and this shows even in their older models. During its time, this 1986 BMW Alpina B7 Turbo was faster, more interesting, more impressive and more dynamic than the standard BMW it was built on. And now, a used one is on sale.
To start things off, this B7 Turbo is a very rare car. The ad seems to be a little confusing though. Normally, the BMW ALPINA B7 Turbo was based on the E28-generation BMW 535i and this is backed up by ALPINA’s website. However, the seller claims this is one of the rare models built on the E28 M5 chassis. We can’t find proof if this is true so take the information with a grain of salt.
This car has a 3.5 liter inline-six engine with a K27 turbocharger on it and a Brullen exhaust system. If it is based on the 535i, it delivers 320 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. When paired with its five-speed manual transmission, the 535i-based ALPINA B7 Turbo can get from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds, which is not bad at all for a car from 1986.
This specific car has good mileage on it; only about 126,000 miles, which justifies the hefty price tag.
