[Video] Modified BMW E60 M5 Test by The Smoking Tire

The sixth generation BMW M5 is coming up but the E60 M5 is still a darling of the modding world. It just makes as a good platform for awesome builds because it is powered by the S85 5.0 liter naturally-aspirated V10 which is one of the greatest BMW engines ever made. Check out this video from The Smoking Tire where they set out to review a modified BMW E60 M5.

This video just helps remind us how great the engine was and still is. If there is a could-be-better, that’s the SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) which is slow to shift in manual mode. When left in automatic, it can also be quite clumsy. It was amazing back in the day but it fails in comparison with the modern-day dual-clutch units. This though seems like a minor issue compared to how amazing this car is.

This particular modified E60 M5 has a new exhaust, new headers and, most importantly, electronically-controlled air-ride that replaces the traditional coil springs with air suspension that can be adjusted with three different height settings, via a controller mounted on the center console.

For the exterior, a front bumper of an F80 M3 was added. It was combined with a stock E60 bumper and it looks really nice, albeit a bit strange.
