New York City is known for being the city that never sleeps. It is also a city with many surprises up its sleeve. Unfortunately, one New York surprise caught a BMW X5 owner off guard. A wild sinkhole appeared!
It was Tuesday morning in Manhattan’s Upper West Side when the people awoke to poor water pressure. It was caused by the breaking of a main water pipe in their neighborhood. The incident caused a sinkhole to appear at the intersection of West 89th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. A BMW X5 was parked there and it got swallowed.
It was around 9pm in the previous evening that the pipe started to leak. There were so many gallons of water released by the accident that the street ended up being a mini lake by Tuesday afternoon.
It was so unfortunate for the BMW X5 owner. Hopefully, no other sinkholes appear in the city!
