The BMW South Africa Plant will start building the next-gen G01 BMW X3 in 2018. That’s a whole year ahead of announced schedule, and the reason is the high demand for the class. The primary goal was for the Rosslyn plant to start building the premium SUVs in 2019.
The plant’s manager Tim Abbot shared: “We have been asked to work faster so we are able to supply customers with the new X3 in the course of 2018.”
Last year, the plant had 72,000 cars built, more than 80% being exported. This will be the second factory to produce this model, along with the Spartanburg plant in South California.
