Car Advice have previously pitted these two cars together in a battle of which they would rather own. The comfort provided by the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe made it the winner for that round. The AMG was a handful since it enjoys roasting its rear tires quite a bit and likes to oversteer. It has an insane 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 that makes 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque which is no common for a car this small. The driver needed to keep the traction control in “Race” mode so that the computers can help him drive the car well. Despite these factors, the lap time was still impressive at 00:55.080.

The BMW M4 Competition Package on the other hand is powered by a 3.0 liter twin-turbo I6 engine that makes 444 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. The driver used launch control which roasts the rear tires and even gets a bit sideways. The launch of the M4 is quite violent and it even though it regained control, it looked like it is more difficult to manoeuvre than the AMG. Despite these factors, the M4 CP delivered a slightly faster lap time of 00:54.380.

The BMW M4 Competition Package was faster in the end but Car Advice picked the AMG anyway because of the comfort it provided for daily driving. It didn’t matter for them that its a hundredths of a second slower.
