The new BMW G30 5 Series premiere revealed where its design inspiration comes from. The new 5er is quite similar to the 7 Series, so let’s see them compared next to each other.
A quick glance at the photos will show you a great similarity between the two. Nearly all exterior aspects match. As for the interior, more differences can be noted, but they also share many of the features.
Still, the most noticeable difference is probably the overall feeling – the G30 5 Series leaves the impression of a stronger, more muscular car than the G11. Some of the 7 Series’ details were ditched, such as the ‘hockey stick’ air-breather and the horizontal bar between the headlights
Interiors are really only distinguishable by details. There is a new front dash trim, the nav screen and the display surround are smaller. This is not a bad news by any means – the future 5 Series owner will be getting the 7 Series exterior for much less money.
Seems like the logic around this was to improve and enhance the existing design and leave what’s good. It’s a pretty good approach and it had helped create a great new 5er.
