Rumor: BMW to Replace the X3 Plug-in Hybrid with Full-Electric Model

Even though the news about BMW working on a future plug-in hybrid X3 SUV spread earlier this year, we now got the information that the development of this model has stopped. Instead, the company is shifting towards the fully electric X3 SUV.

The new electric SUV will practically be an X3 spin-off powered by a 225-kW motor and a 70-kW-hr battery. It’s expected to have a range of more than 480 km on a single charge thanks to the latest battery technology.

The only electrically powered SUVs from BMW’s range at the moment are the X1 xDrive25Le (in China only) and the X5 xDrive40e.
