Spotted: 2018 BMW Z4 in Spain

Spotted in Spain is the 2018 BMW Z4. This up and coming G29-generation BMW Z4 is the successor of the E89-generation. The predecessor is already showing signs of ageing and it makes a lot of sense to start with a fresh model by next year.

As part of the partnership that BMW forged with Toyota, the G29 BMW Z4 will be produced side by side with the upcoming Toyota Supra. Much is expected as these two large automaker joins forces. There is already a lot of hype about it as we speak.

The Z4 has already been spotted testing in snow but the twisty roads of Spain provides a great testing ground as well. The photos show a prototype that’s heavily camouflaged. There’s not much to see, really. Though there are a few promising details that we can make out.

The new headlights feature a little but more squint and thus looking aggressive. The new taillights, though, are hiding in camouflage. It is also obvious how BMW has stayed true to the classic roadster proportions for this one. People loved that about the current E89 Z4. It felt old-school but clearly made a statement as a high-tech sports car. This new Z4 looks like it’s going to be a bit longer than than the predecessor, but it should still feel like a proper roadster.

The dual exhaust pipes are visible from the back. So this is likely the BMW Z4 M40i variant with the new B58 turbocharged 3.0 liter I6 engine.
