The BMW X1 will be the first-ever front-wheel drive-based BMW that will arrive in the US soil. The X1 fills a very important void in BMW’s car line-up and this has been well received by fans — with great sales worldwide. These are some spy photos of a plug-in hybrid BMW X1 spotted testing on public roads. The charging port on the front, driver’s side fender, clearly indicated it is a plug-in. The door also has a “Hybrid Test Vehicle” sign printed on it.
This hybrid model will come with the mid-cycle facelift of the BMW X1, which is set to debut in 2019. For a facelifted model, we see only minimal updates.
BimmerToday reports that this is likely the Chinese-market long-wheelbase version of the X1, which shows that BMW will, indeed, sell the hybrid in China.
