Could the success of the BMW X1 SUV break the records set by other cars in the German automaker’s line up? Could be. The second generation of the entry-level X1 SUV is actually shaping up to be one of the most successful vehicles ever built by BMW.
The F48 X1 actually garnered a lot of following in Germany last January 2017. It has become the most sold BMW there with 5,120 units sold. Worldwide, more than 20,000 units were sold in the first month of the year. This is a 40% increase compared to the sales for the previous year. The X1s sold surpassed the all the cars sold under the MINI portfolio. Because of its success, the BMW X1 has also contributed the long version of the compact SUV offered only in China and also as a plug-in hybrid.
The new F48 X1 is a very practical car. It has increase by 53 millimeters in height, with a 36 millimeter raise in the front seating position, compared to its predecessor. The switch to front-wheel drive architecture gave the vehicle more interior space. It offers and impressive 37 millimeters more rear knee room and 85 liters more cargo space, bringing the total to 505 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the X1 has 1,550 liters of cargo space. That’s amazing for a small SUV!
It also helped that it is one of the most affordable BMWs, even more so than the 3 Series, so it is an easy choice for practical customers.
