[Photo] ALPINA Teases with BMW D5 S with All-Wheel-Drive

ALPINA teases us today with a photo of the full-color digital instrument panel in LED technology of the upcoming BMW ALPINA D5 S. This is the next big thing for ALPINA: a high performance diesel built upon the new 5 Series. The new model will be wearing ALPINA sport suspension including Dynamic Damper Control with lightweight 20“ ALPINA CLASSIC forged wheels and Integral Active Steering in combination with Adaptive Drive. It will also come with performance enhancing all-wheel drive as standard.

The full-color digital instrument panel in LED technology has a central speed readout and D5 S model inscription. Comfort Mode depicts classic round instruments with a blue background and red needles while Sport Mode is characterized by dynamic blue and green drag indicators.

It also wears the Pirelli P Zero with “ALP” labelling wheels. These super high performance tires measuring 255/35 ZR20 at the front and 295/30 ZR20 (Touring: 285/30 ZR20) at the rear are explicitly developed by Pirelli for use on the new BMW ALPINA D5 S in accordance to ALPINA’s requirements with regards to dynamics and comfort.

The new 3.0 liter straight six cylinder engine with common rail direct injection delivers 388 PS and 800 Nm of torque, in the left-hand drive models. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4.4 seconds (Touring: 4.6 seconds), onwards to a top speed of 286 km/h (Touring: 283 km/h). The combined fuel consumption according to NEFZ is 6.6 l/100 km (Touring: 6,9l/100 km) with CO2 emission of 174 g/km (Touring: 182 g/km). The right-hand models use the same engine, but with 326 PS and 700 Nm of torque, while accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 275 km/h.
