Two-door M Car Track Battle: BMW M2 vs M4 Coupe vs 1M Coupe

The new BMW M2 goes can only prove itself worthy if it wins among the other two-door M cars in the line up. The BMW 1M Coupe is considered as the M2’s spiritual predecessor while the more expensive and powerful M4 is also on the same classification. Want to know which is faster on track? Steve Sutcliffe of AutoExpress did this interesting test. The new BMW M4 Competition Package delivers 444 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. It hold the title of being the faster car in the M division. However, the BMW M2 is a car that small, agile, and fast at 365 hp and 343 lb-ft. Even after the BMW 1 Series M is no longer being produced, most fans still love its capability of 335 hp and 370.

In the test, the BMW M2 quickly showed that it is brilliant handling, compact size and fun to drive on track. The BMW 1 Series M gets close the the M2’s performance but it is harder to drive and quite slower. The BMW M4 coupe is of course, the fastest car of the bunch. It has a sophisticated suspension, better differential, and a faster DCT gearbox. However, it is also heavier.

Regardless of the weight, the BMW M4 still wins this round as the best two-door M Car. This is quite expected because it is engineered to be faster than the M2 and especially the 1M.

If we rank the three, the BMW M4 is the fastest, followed by the M2, and then the 1M comes in last. in choosing what car to buy, price will of course be a factor. Not everyone can afford an M4 though. So in terms of practicality, the BMW M2 might still be the best choice.
