BMW E30 and 3 Series in general, are mostly loved for their handling skills.
Over time, many tuners have tried to make such a model a true drag racing monster. The one you can see in the video above is a truly spectacular example.
The E30 was tuned by German Boba Motoring. The drag race result was 9 seconds for the quarter mile, and the most impressive fact is that it develops around 1,200 HP!
This tuning company has some specific knowledge and experience in the area, otherwise this result wouldn’t be possible. They replace the engine and add a turbo – even bigger than the engine – and watch the magic happens.
With this E30, they replaced the 4-cylinder standard BMW motor ith the BMW E34 M5 3.6-liter inline-6 one. They opted for the Precision PT8285 CEA Turbo, so it now delivers 1,208 HP, to be precise, and 1,250 Nm of torque.
How does this tuned E30 act on the road? Well, it’s enough to say that it reached a 9.19 second time for the 1/4 mile, and had a trap speed of 256 km/h. Quite impressive! Still, when you look at it, it doesn’t look aggressive. Au contraire, you could easily think that it’s a modest car, not different from the regular 3 Series. The looks can fool sometimes.
