Video: BMW M4 vs M3 Competition Package

Just recently, BMW has released its Competition Package for the BMW M3 and M4. Both of these cars have incredible specs. They receive a bump in power, sportier suspension, lightweight seats, a performance exhaust, a tuned differential, and great looking 20 inch wheels. For the amount of money that a customer has to pay for getting this, it is a great addition to any M3/M4 buyers. Most people say it is a worthy investment. However, there is also feedback that BMW should have offered these characteristics in standard form. Nick Murray, meets up with an owner of a BMW M3 Competition Package to actually compare the differences.

Murray notices that there is a difference in the two cars is in terms of comfort. He says that the M3 Competition Package is more comfortable than his standard M4. That’s an unexpected feedback because the Competition Package is supposed to have a firmer suspension. In the past, reviews noted that it’s the stiffer of the two cars. However, Murray says differently. He drives it back-to-back with his standard M4 that has the Adaptive Dampers, and he says with both cars in Comfort mode, the M3 CP is the more comfortable car. This maybe the first time that both cars are driven back-to-back to actually compare. Generally, we just assume that the Competition Package is firmer.

Murray also points out that the carbon ceramic brakes is quit annoying. For the hefty price tag you have to pay for the ceramic brakes. it is just useful for track use, which is precisely why the M3 Competition Pack owner bought them. He tracks his M3 quite often and says that they’re necessary for anyone that does. However, if you don’t track your car, then it is not worth the investment because they produce unnecessary noise that disrupts the peace of daily driving.

In terms of sound, Murray says the BMW M3 Competition Package is better. The new M Performance Exhaust is far more aggressive and has more pops and burbles. Many enthusiasts complain about the current BMW M3/M4 sound and the Comp Pack remedies those complaints. Isn’t this a cover up for what the car should really sound to begin with?

The Style 666M wheels, simply awesome lightweight seats, stickier tires, more comfortable suspension and revamped differential, it makes the Competition Package worth it. This side by side comparo just proves that.
