Video: BMW X5 xDrive40e Review by Carwow

The number of customers making green choices in terms of cars continues to increase. Thus, hybrid SUVs are becoming very popular, especially to the higher end of the market since this variant can be a bit pricey. However, one factor that these customers should consider is the practicality of the vehicle. Since hybrid SUVs are large, they are usually not economical. The hybrid gear affects their ability to be utility vehicles. Here is a review by Carwow to check if the BMW X5 xDrive40e is a good buy.

The BMW X5’s rivals in the segment are Mercedes GLE, Audi Q7 and the Range Rover Sport. The new plug-in hybrid version the X5 was offered with the desire to deliver strong performance but with lower running costs compared to the other petrol engine options. Carwow’s Mat Watson goes into the details in terms of practicality.

Watson praised the X5 because it is brilliant to drive. Even for its size, it is far more nimble and enjoyable than what you’d expect. Additional points are given to it for looking good from the inside out, and being extremely comfortable and luxurious. However, these features cannot be found in the xDrive40e variant, Watson says.

He discourages people to buy this particular model and recommends the xDrive35d diesel model instead. Generally, this one is faster, economic in terms of fuel, and has a more suitable diesel engine.

Nonetheless, Watson also says that the BMW X5 xDrive40 is still a great car without being compared to the others in the line-up.
