In relation to the decision of BMW to replace the older N55 engine in the M235i with the new B58 engine plus other minor chassis updates, the badge of the car is changed to the BMW M240i. Now it is better and more powerful. Is it a better choice then, than the BMW M2? Let’s find out if the M240i is impressive enough:
The price difference between the two is not that far off. The BMW M2 is USD51,700 while the M240i USD44,450. The power or speed is also almost the same. So if the latter has almost the same performance, then it may be a better buy. The only way to find out is to put them against each other.
This video tries to answer the golden question. Both drivers of the M2 and the M240i are experienced in handling powerful cars.
They immediately realize how fast the M240i is. At 320hp, the new B58 engine paired with the ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic does not disappoint. The sound is also great and they end up agreeing that the performance of this car is superb.
They then move on to the M2. In terms of driving experience, they still proved that the M2 is just leaps and bounds ahead of the M240i. Overall, it is just a shaper animal. It is more dynamic and the steering is excellent. It also gives off a nicer roar.
In a series of mini drag races, the BMW M2 also proved to be always better. BMW once again proves that the M2 is priced and positioned appropriately, based on the performance that it brings. With what it brings to the table, they consider the M2’s price as a bargain! If you’re not that strict about getting the best options though, the BMW M240i will still be a fun car to drive and a comfortable one.
