The BMW Z4 (or the Z5, depending on the final call) Roadster that is about to be introduced in 2018 is being designed and made in collaboration with Japanese Toyota.
It’s rumored that the future production will be moved from Regensburg to Austria. As reported by the Kleine Zeitung, it will be taken over by the Magna Steyr, a contract manufacturer from Graz. This collaboration is not new; Magna has been included in the production of the first generation X3, the future G30 5 Series, and the MINI Countryman and Paceman models.
Toyota is also interested in moving the production to Austria.
