One-make cup racing is gaining popularity these days. It is one of those racing cups in which all teams and drivers use the same car in competing. In fact, there’s a BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Italy one-make championship sponsored by BMW Italia with the support of ACI Sport as a sports promoter.

Organizers have been eyeing to do the first season of the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Italy on the tracks of the most famous national circuits in 6 events. It includes Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, and Mugello International Circuit. There’s also the International Circuit Enzo, Dino Ferrari of Imola, and Vallelunga Pietro Taruffi racetrack.

BMW M2 CS Racing has two proper specs, depending on the series. There will be a 365 horsepower version and a 450 horsepower version available. Both of these power outputs are less than the road cars on which they’re based. And, that often gets some strange looks from fans. However, racing regulations do this to ensure an equal playing field for all drivers.

Entering the Italian Racing Cup, the BMW M2 CS received a special livery to partner with its notably athletic looks. It comes with a 2,979 cc S55 powerplant, specifically tuned for its racing version. This modified engine tops out at 550 Nm (406 lb-ft), sent to the rear axle wheels. It comes mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with dual-clutch tweaked with specific performance software.
