After tackling the thrilling 85 laps, the #99 BMW M6 GT3 won the first place led by the ROWE Racing team. The BMW Motorsport finally gained its 20th overall victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours race. The historic race of the M6 features the alternating role of drivers Nick Yelloly (GBR), Alexander Sims (GBR), and Nick Catsburg (NED).
Because of the heavy rain, the 24-hour tour stops for about nine hours during the night. The crossing of Catsburg for the finish line, 15.452 seconds faster than the second-in-rank Audi, was also roughly a neck-and-neck race. Meanwhile, drivers Jens Klingmann (GER), Augusto Farfus (BRA), Sheldon van der Linde (RSA), and Martin Tomczyk (GER) lead the BMW Team Schnitzer in third place.
At first, the BMW M6 GT3 fails to match the speed at the front of the field and while it’s in the middle of the rain. For this reason, the race stopped on a Saturday evening and resumed the next day at 8 o’clock in the morning. However, Catsburg still manages to take the lead for the ROWE Racing team with its effective tire strategy.
Drivers Marco Wittman (GER), Lucas Auer (AUT), Tom Blomqvist (GBR), and Philipp Eng (AUT) alternate roles for the fourth-in-place $98 ROWE Racing car. As for the #101 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3, it comes home with the twelfth place award. Unfortunately, the various incidents and repairs that the #100 car in the AM class attained have made it unclassified.
The 24-hour race also became a perfect end for the debut of the BMW Junior Team. Drivers Max Hesse (GER), Dan Harper (GBR), and Neil Verhagen (USA) drove the #73 BMW M4 GT4. They won the 19th place with its flawless race of aiming for the SP8T class. This was a success for the team especially while also overcoming difficult road conditions. As a result, the team became the best non-GT3 team in the whole field.
With a special anniversary ensemble, the BMW M2 CS Racing media car retreated. This happened nearly four hours from the end of the race as it collided with a faster car. The good thing is quick repairs came in through the Pixum CFN Adrenalin Motorsport. Thus, seeing the BMW M2 CS finish the race gave a good feels for the viewers. Professional racing drivers Tom Coronel (NED) and Dirk Adorf (GER) paved the way for this car. They were also accompanied by journalists Niki Schelle and Christian Gebhardt (both GER).
