The first race of the 2022 DTM season will take place on 30 April in Portimao, Portugal where we will get our first glimpse of the four DTM-specific BMW M4 GT3s. However, at the moment, it’s all about the BMW liveries. The German Touring Car Masters grid will feature four cars from Walkenhorst Motorsports and Schubert Motorsport, all dressed to impress.
Hermann van der Linde will drive the Schubert Motorsport car, which is predominantly red in Shell colours. One of the team’s DTM cars, which is mostly blue, will be driven by Philipp Eng and will be wearing RoboMarkets livery. Walkenhorst Motorsport follows with a green M4 GT3 with Schaeffler branding, driven by Marco Wittmann. The last car, driven by Esteban Muth, is black with CATL and iQOO lettering on the front wings.
The new M4 GT3 made its race debut at the Dubai 24 Hours earlier this year, replacing the M6 GT3. The BMW M4 GT3 with drivers Miller, Wittmer, Montour and Hull finished eighth overall for ST Racing. Schubert Motorsport was represented by Nick Yelloly, Jordan Witt, Marcel Lenerz and Jens Liebhauser, who finished tenth in the championship.
The Daytona 24-hour race took place at the end of January, where the cars performed better. Both cars finished in the top ten ( GTD-PRO ), despite problems with the underbody at the beginning of the race. The race car will be in action again at the 12 Hours of Sebring later this month.
