The German National Biathlon Team is preparing for another thrilling season, and BMW is playing a pivotal role in ensuring their success. For the third consecutive year, BMW continues its partnership with the team, providing a fleet of fully electric BMW i4 models alongside the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, and X4. This collaboration goes beyond just mobility, as BMW also lends its technological expertise to enhance the team’s equipment and performance through advanced aerodynamics and simulations.
BMW’s commitment to the Biathlon team is evident, with Christian Ach, Head of BMW Germany, expressing excitement about the partnership. Ach highlighted how the new vehicles will help the athletes travel smoothly and comfortably from one World Cup event to the next. With BMW’s state-of-the-art vehicles, the athletes are supported in their training and experience the pleasure of driving on and off the course.
The athletes recently received new vehicles at the BMW M Driving Experience in Maisach. During this event, they participated in BMW’s driver safety training, learning valuable skills such as evasive driving techniques and mastering sharp turns. This unique experience in the fully electric BMW i4 and i5 models allowed the athletes to push their limits differently, simulating their precision and focus on the biathlon course.
As Franziska Preuß, one of the team’s star athletes, remarked, driving the BMW i4 was a thrilling challenge that mirrored the intensity of their sport. She’s excited to have an electric car for the first time and eager to see how it performs during the demanding World Cup season.
The Biathlon season kicks off on November 30, 2024, in Finland, with the highlight being the World Championships in Switzerland in February 2025. BMW’s long-standing support of the Biathlon team and its innovative mobility solutions will drive the team toward a successful season ahead.
