Sport Auto, a German magazine, takes the new 2012 BMW M5 to Hockenheim. The result is a very impressive lap time: 1:12.9 minutes. It has successfully beat its predecessor, which clocked in at 1:15.6, and the 1:14.5 of ALPINA B5 BiTurbo. It is also a second faster than its predecessors Mercedes CLS 63 AMG (1:13.9) and Porsche Panamera Turbo (1:13.7).
From 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h), the F10 M5 stopped the clock at 4.1 seconds, and at 12.4 seconds, it already achieved 124 mph (200 km/h). However, the same publication reports that the fuel consumption of the M5 is not that good. The average fuel consumption is said to be 13.1 mpg or 17.9 liters/100 km.
The new BMW M5 will go on sale in 2012.
