2021 ALPINA B8 Gran Coupe’s Test Drive

Offering you almost everything that you expect from a tourer, the 2021 ALPINA B8 Gran Coupe had finally revealed its face last month. And now the BMWblog team took it in a test drive at the Austrian Salzburgring and the beautiful, sweeping country roads near Salzburg.

A Finely Crafted Luxury Vehicle

The 2021 ALPINA B8 Gran Coupe delivers enhanced power, level of comfort, and improved driving dynamics. Powering this Gran Coupe is a reliable twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine that can be found in many BMW models. This powertrain produces a wealthy 621 horsepower and a maximum torque of 800Nm in every 2,000rpm. It allows the vehicle to accelerate from 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 324 km/h (201 mph).

New ECU Map And Enhanced Cooling

For enhanced driving comfort, it now features a cooling package. One additional oil cooler (120% larger than stock), two replacement intercoolers (45% larger cooling surface). It also comes with an improved 1000W cooling fan, and new water-air intercoolers (50%larger) are all included. These provide improved performance in all conditions and ALPINA’s signature throttle and engine response and smooth power delivery.

ALPINA Suspension

In terms of the suspension, ALPINA decided to change the dampers and improve the software calibration. The improved setup included new springs, rods, arms, and stiffening parts. These contribute to the distinct ALPINA personality, with Comfort Plus on one end of the spectrum and Sport Plus on the other. As a result, it’s a one-of-a-kind combination of long-distance ride comfort and precise handling characteristics, available whenever you need it.
