To improve the BMW M240i, the reputable German tuner has applied its aftermarket expertise to enhance the model and provide extra features to better the vehicle. In October, BMW will reveal the M2 G87, but AC Schnitzer has already shown the next best thing. Regarding radical design and performance improvements, forget about the G87, which is due on the market soon.
AC Schnitzer has completed the aerodynamics package, including a front splitter and striking double winglets on the tailgate. Stylistically, the quad exhaust with carbon fibre tailpipes stands out in particular. A contemporary M240i with rear-wheel drive goes well with all these upgrades.
At an additional cost, 19 and 20-inch alloy wheels are available, as well as a stronger suspension configuration that lowers the ride height by 20-25 mm. According to AC Schnitzer, the company is also developing custom springs for four-cylinder cars. The tuner has used a lot of aluminium for the gearshift paddles, pedals, footrest and even the key holder in the interior. Thanks to the use of Alcantara and leather for the steering wheel, the M240i becomes more luxurious.
To bring the B58 up to 420 hp and 500 Nm (or 369 lb-ft) of torque, it needs to update some changes to the engine. With the upgraded 3.0-litre inline-six, the M240i xDrive can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds, compared to 4.3 seconds for the regular M240i xDrive. The new RWD, which weighs 55 kilogrammes less, takes 0.4 seconds longer to do the same.
