The long wait is over: the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will enter the market before the end of this year. This second-generation luxury vehicle will deliver more flair and functionality to fans of the BMW 4 Series Coupe. While BMW is busy with its release, ALPINA is hard at work on creating its own B4 Gran Coupe. This car was recently spied during its test run on the Nurburgring while camouflaged. If you’re curious about their difference, well, the ALPINA is set to raise the bar for luxury travel. The ALPINA B4 will include bespoke interior finishes and equally distinctive exterior colours, characterising the automaker as a whole. At the same time, ALPINA will keep its concept in the exterior styling. Therefore, expect a new front bumper air splitter and turbine-style wheels as well as a redesigned rear bumper.
Something that should be anticipated in this version is the rear bumper bearing the quad tailpipe design. It will be the only one with such style, with the absence of the M4 version in its lineup. However, the regular 4 Series Gran Coupe has no quad exhaust pipes even in M Performance configuration. Regardless, this exhaust system is a direct reflection of the car’s raw power.
Moreover, it seems like the ALPINA B4 Gran Coupe will carry an upgraded S58 3-litre straight-six from the M3/M4. It’s likely to be the same 462 HP and 700 Nm mill seen in the B3 variants. Meanwhile, the transmission will remain an 8-speed automatic coupled to an all-wheel-drive system designed by the experts at Buchloe. The B4 Gran Coupe looks to be a substitute for the BMW M4 Gran Coupe when looking at the specs. However, we’ll have to see what the ALPINA holds.
