An electric Mini? That’s what we’re talking about…

We really have no idea whether this is concrete fact or some kind of fairy tale fiction. Some say that the automobile giant is simply toying with this idea, but some also do believe that they have something up their sleeve this time. We are among those guys who actually believe that BMW is on to something big, like all the other times of course. The engineers at BMW are all over this project and the car is gonna be heading to California. We’re referring to the electric Mini that the company is planning to launch.

At the BMW’s factory in England, the manufacturers are simply putting up the car together without its engines and fuel tanks and transporting them to Munich where the actual process will begin, that is, the process of installing the electric components. But there is a little problem. This car won’t be available everywhere. That’s
because it is only for the state of California, USA. This has left many BMW lovers heartbroken but the company is doing all this for a deeper reason. It is helping the state to lower the emissions from the vehicles due to which automakers have to manufacture at least 7500 cars for fulfilling this requirement. BMW alone is going to supply about 500 electric cars for the same.

BMW wants to provide its drivers the ultimate driving experience by using their electrically powered cars. The project is called the Mini EV which is simply perfect for a drive in the city. No statement has yet been made about the launch of this car in California but considering the fact that other automakers want to release their
EVs by 2010, BMW is surely not going to be left behind.
