BMW’s Ian Robertson confirms six to nine new compact-class cars

BMW Blog reports that BMW Board Member for Sales and Marketing Ian Robertson confirmed that BMW and MINI will expand their fleet with six to nine new compact class cars.

He said: “We want to grow in the premium small car and compact segment with the BMW and Mini. We think about six to nine new vehicles based on this UKL architecture, so a product family that will expand our offerings in the arena of small and compact cars.” BMW has not ventured yet on this architecture before, so this will  be an entirely new  arena for BMW engineers. Nonetheless, they are dedicated to expand the fleet to cater to all the possible needs of the consumers of today. The next generation MINI will be the first vehicles from the BMW Group to use the new UKL architecture.

Ian Roberston was asked if BMW is considering to make a van to expand the fleet, he said: “We have analyzed in great detail where there is still room for more models.” Let us stay tuned for more details.
