Rumor has it that the first 2 Series model will be revealed by BMW in the next few weeks at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. The vehicle might go on sale on March 2014. The F23 2 Series Convertible with a soft top is expected to follow shortly after. These vehicles are quite similar to the current generation F20/F21 1 Series with rear-wheel drive architecture and all-wheel drive system. As the engine range expands, there may even be 220d, 218i or 225i models. The M Performance Automobiles sub-division is also expected to take over with by creating M235i and M235i xDrive for high performance vehicles. The M235i will most likely use the same engine as the M135i, a 3.0 liter TwinPower turbocharged six-cylinder producing 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque (332 lb-ft) at 1,300 rpm. Redline is set at 7000 rpm. A BMW M2 may also be a possibility in 2015.
