BMW 2 Series to include new 1 Series Coupe and Convertible

BMW has filed for U.S. trademarks for 2 Series model designation last year including 228, 230, and 235. Though these trademarks may never be used, as what usually  happens, this time the new BMW badge will host the upcoming redesigned F22 1 Series Coupe and F23 Convertible.

Rumors about the 2 Series have been circulating for the past months. The German publication AutoBild reports that when the new 1 Series Coupe and Convertible launch in 2014 and 2015, BMW will label them with the 2 Series designation.
