BMW 530Le plug-in hybrid makes its debut in China

Making its debut exclusively for the Chinese market is the BMW 530Le plug-in hybrid. It was displayed at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show and manufactured in China by the Brilliance-BMW joint venture.

The 530Le has a combination of a four-cylinder IC engine (the familiar N20) and a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. Taking the place of the common torque converter is an electric motor. It produces 242 hp for the conventional engine and 272 hp overall.

BMW 530Le has the lowest fuel consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 km and the lowest CO2 emissions, 49g/km, in its segment. In pure electric mode, the 530Le will have a range of 58km, and a top speed of 120km/hr.
