BMW AG is entering discussions on sharing technology and parts with Saab, a Swedish automaker that is now on the works of making a small car to their fleet. Negotiation between the two companies are confidential and nothing is yet confirmed. But if this pushes through, BMW will be providing Saab with engines and transmissions for their tear drop shaped, Saab 92 model inspired vehicle. BMW might also supply a diesel engine to Saab’s 9-4X midsize crossover.
Both BMW and Saab will lower their production costs significantly through this partnership. Though both confirmed that they have no final agreements with each other yet, they also said that both are open with talks of sharing technology for mutual benefit.
