BMW appointed as the official limousine for Global Young Scientists Summit@One-North 2014.

30 units of BMW 5 Series limousines to be deployed to shuttle top scientists.

Singapore – BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited (PML) have announced their vehicle sponsorship of the Global Young Scientists Summit@One-North 2014 (also known as GYSS 2014), for the second time, from January 19thto 24th.

A fleet of 30 BMW 520i limousines have been handed over to representatives of the GYSS@One-North 2014 Organsing Committee, and will be used to chauffeur the speakers of GYSS 2014 in comfort.

GYSS 2014 is a gathering of young scientists and researchers (primarily PhD students and post-doctorates) from all over the world, with internationally eminent scientists and technology leaders in Singapore. It is a multi-disciplinary Summit, covering topics ranging from chemistry, physics and medicine to mathematics, computer science and engineering.

As fitted in the new BMW 520i, the four-cylinder engine develops maximum power of 184 hp at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 270 Nm, which is available between 1,250 and 4,500 rpm. Instantaneous power response helps the BMW 520i Sedan perform the century sprint in 7.9 seconds and achieve a top speed is 235 km/h. Simultaneous efficiency improvements are reflected in its average fuel consumption of 6.4 litres/100km and its CO2 emissions of 149g/km, both as per EU test cycle.
