According to BMW’s design director Adrian van Hooydonk, they are striving to consolidate their designs and make it more harmonious. Because they cater to global tastes, they want to make their designs beautiful to every country they release their cars in. Good examples of this consolidated design are the latest 5-series saloon and BMW’s Gran Coupé concept unveiled at the recent Beijing motor show. These vehicles showed a subtle use of the concave and convex, unlike previous BMW designs which are more disparate. With designs like these, they aim to show a strong and clear image of what BMW is as a global brand.
