BMW Grand Coupe will challenge other 4-door vehicles

According to BMW Development Chief Klaus Draeger, they will build the Grand Coupe concept car — which will directly compete against other luxury coupe-styled 4-door cars like the Mercedes CLS, Audi’s A7 and the Porsche Panamera.

After being unveiled at the Beijing auto show in April, it is now time to move it into production. The Grand Coupe will be positioned close to the 6 Series in technology and price. So it is safe to expect it to cost not lower than the 6 series base price of US$93,560.

Draeger also said that it has not been decided yet whether the Grand Coupe will get hybrid version. The new two-door 6 Series coupe will be launched next year. In 2012, the Grand Coupe will follow.
