BMW prepares to ramp up production of the new BMW X3 by hiring additional workers. BMW announced today that they will be hiring additional 600 people at the Spartanburg plant in a work-as-needed set up. These workers will help assemble the vehicles and are called contingent associates.
The production of the BMW X3 alone has caused BMW to hire a total of 1,600 new workers in the span of three months. The total workforce of BMW is now at 8,000 employees in the Spartanburg plant.
BMW points the need for additional workers due to the increasing demand for the X5 and X6 models.
