BMW i3 has 100,000 People Booked for Test Drives

bmw-i3-coupe-frontIan Robertson, Chief of BMW Sales, said that there are approximately 100,000 reservations worldwide for test drives of the BMW i3 electric car even before its debut. Test drives are usually booked because the customer wants to be sure about the car before purchasing it. Oftentimes, it is the test drive that makes or breaks the decision to buy the vehicle. But BMW is not breaking a sweat for this test drives because there are already a significant number of customers who have actually made a deposit to secure an i3 unit.

“We are confident that with the i3 and i8 we will shift the needle,” said Robertson. He is very confident that BMW has made a difference in the electric vehicle industry by making an EV car from the ground up, and not just converting a conventional car to add an electric powertrain.

The production BMW i3 may be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Sales will follow shortly after that.
