BMW is planning to develop a 5 Series electric vehicle for China

Automotive News reports today that BMW and its Chinese partner Brilliance China Automotive is planning to develop an electric vehicle specifically for the Chinese market. According to the Beijing Youth Daily newspaper, this will be built on the 5 Series platform. The vehicle is expected to be shown in concept form at a Chinese motor show this year.electric vehicle. BMW unveiled a similar concept last year at the 2010 Beijing Motor Show. It has not yet been confirmed if this is the same electric vehicle they are now planning.
