BMW Leipzig Event on Electric Mobility

In an official event, BMW CEO Norbert Reithoffer and German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave a talk regarding the importance of electric mobility and the future of electric-powered vehicles. BMW’s future electric vehicles will start with the ActiveE and Megacity Vehicle, both of which will be manufactured in BMW’s Leipzig plant.

Dr. Reithoffer confirmed that “BMW will remain a sporty brand, combining dynamics and mobility.” German Chancellor Merkel was all praises for BMW’s efforts towards sustainable mobility. With the 400 million euro investment and 800 jobs created at the Leipzig plant, BMW will definitely help the German economy in the process. There will be a lot of positive consequences on the region, both economically and environmentally.

Some important components of the Megacity Vehicle will be built in BMW’s Dingolfing plant. The carbon fiber used will be made in Washngton, USA. Overall, Reithofer said that they decided to build these hybrid vehicles in their newest and most flexible Leipzig plant.
