The new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has always been a rival of the BMW M3. Add a Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe to the equation and you have three amazing cars going head to head with each other. Here’s some proper data testing to determine the winner:

Let’s get to know each car a little deeper. The new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has a 503 hp 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic driving the rear wheels. The BMW M3 Competition Package on the other hand is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter I6 engine delivering 444 hp and sends power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch. The Mercedes AMG C63 S has a 502 hp twin-turbo V8 sending power through as seven-speed dual-clutch to the rear wheels as well.

Carwow first tests the three cars in a standing quarter-mile drag race. In this round the Alfa beats the other two cars because it has the best power-to-weight ratio among the three. The BMW M3 was second and the AMG came in last.

Then they test each car’s 0-60 mph times as compared to the times that the manufacturers claim. High-tech telemetry was used to record the times and they are as accurate as it can be. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio clocked in 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds — exactly what Alfa claims. BMW’s M3 Comp Pack did it in 4.1 seconds which was a tenth behind its claim. The AMG did it in 4.3 seconds which was three tenths behind its claim.

There was also a rolling drag race staged where each car starts at 30 mph and accelerates from there, which the Alfa wins significantly, followed by the BMW and then the AMG. In the breaking test though, the AMG wins. The BMW is second and the Alfa was last.

Fancy equipment was used again in the drift testing to measure slip angle to see how much he can drift each car. In the Alfa, he was only able to manage a 30 degree drift, but it was easy and fun. In the Bimmer, he was able to do a 34 degree drift, though it seemed a bit tougher. The Merc he actually spun into the grass the first try and then managed a 35 degree drift but said it was the most snappy of the three.

All things considered, the BMW M3 still seems to be the better buy because of its lower price, better dealer network, technology, and warranty. However, the Alfa can also be a cool choice if you’re a bit adventurous.
