BMW M4 Coupe Production Begins

The production of the BMW M3 Coupe has begun in the BMW plant in Monaco. The first F82 BMW M4 came off the production lines today in the Austin Yellow color and was presented by DTM driver Martin Tomczyk.

Available colors will be Austin Yellow, Yas Marina Blue, Sakhir Orange, Mineral Gray, Mineral White, Silverstone II, Sapphire Black and Alpine White, while other color versions such as the popular Frozen matte finishes be available on a later date.

It takes 40 hours for the entire production of a single M4. A special step here is the installation of the standard carbon-fiber roof which is started by robots but completed by hand.

The all-new, 3.0-liter six-cylinder BMW M3 and M4 engine is approximately 10 kilograms lighter than the V-8 predecessor and delivers 425 horsepower from 5,500 – 7,300 rpm, 406 lb-ft of torque from 1,850 – 5,500 rpm, and capable of 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds when equipped with the M-DCT transmission (4.1 seconds with standard 6-speed manual).
