BMW moots building engines for other carmakers

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) – Bayerische Motoren Werke AG is considering whether it would build engines for other carmakers, chief executive Norbert Reithofer said in an interview with Focus magazine.

‘We’re thinking about it,’ he said.

He also said BMW is studying whether it would use the engines it is currently making with Peugeot (other-otc: PEUGY.PK – news – people ) PSA in some of the BMW brand cars.

BMW is using the engines jointly developed and built with Peugeot in its MINI brand cars.
