BMW Motorrad strengthens its presence across East Asia with new regional office.

Growth based on expansion markets, new models, and stronger brand presence.

Singapore. BMW Motorrad opens a new regional office in East Asia. Based in Singapore, BMW Motorrad Asia supervises up to nine importer markets including: Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, New Caledonia, Tahiti, New Zealand and Vietnam.

The new regional office is headed by Mr. Lito German, Regional Director of BMW Motorrad Asia who commented: “We aim to consolidate and expand our presence across East Asia to capitalise on the amazing potential here. To achieve this, BMW Motorrad Asia will open dealerships in new markets such as Vietnam, enhance existing operations in established markets like Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan and New Zealand, as well as introduce innovative brand initiatives and campaigns.”

Globally, BMW Motorrad has been experiencing an upward trend, reaching an all-time high of 100,217 units sold for the first nine months of 2014, which is an increase of 7.6% year-on-year (previous year: 93,154 units). The strong growth of BMW Motorrad is attributed to positive market developments worldwide, as well as the growing popularity of its model range, including top-selling models like the BMW R 1200 GS and the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure.

BMW Motorrad clearly intends to remain on course for growth in the upcoming season with exciting new models. One such highlight is the R 1200 RS, a new water-cooled boxer model, which was recently unveiled at the motorcycle trade fair INTERMOT in Cologne.

“BMW Motorrad will continue to enhance our product portfolio to cater to a wider target audience. Here in the region, fans and supporters can also look forward to the impending arrival of special-edition maxi-scooters – the BMW C 600 Sport and BMW C 650 GT, which have been specially created for our customers in Asia,” said Mr. German.
