BMW RLR No. 92 M3 GT Third Place in Grand Prix of Mosport

Bill Auberlen and Tommy Milner drove the No. 92 M3 GT to a third-place GT class finish in today’s Grand Prix of Mosport. The race was red-flagged with 29 minutes remaining following a crash by a GTC car requiring extensive repairs to the track-side barriers.

The eighth-consecutive podium finish by the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team this season keeps BMW firmly in the hunt for the Manufacturer’s championship, only dropping one point from the lead. The title will be decided at the season finale, Petit Le Mans, on
October 2.

Joey Hand and Dirk Müller were forced to retire the No. 90 M3 GT following a collision by Müller on lap 48, just after one hour of the race was complete.
Martin Birkmann, BMW NA Motorsport Manager said, “We raced today with the memory of a very special friend who passed away only three days ago. Our podium finish keeps us right in the hunt for the Manufacturer’s championship and I know that is exactly where he would want us to be. Jack, we miss you.”

The final Round of the 2010 ALMS season, the 10-hour Petit Le Mans, will be held at Road Atlanta, in Braselton, Ga., on Oct. 2. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET.
