Rumors have it that BMW is planning a new car that will carry the M8 badge. This time, it will be a sportscar flagship model. This is in line with the recent news about a BMW supercar, but nothing has been confirmed by BMW officials yet.
If this pushes through, it is rumored to use the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept. The horsepower will most likely reach the 600 hp mark. Two electric motors will be added to the V10 engine of the E60 M5 in a front and rear VED layout. The front motor will be capable of 80-115 hp, while the rear motor will add more than 50 hp.
According to German Magazine Autozeitung, the idea behind its design and technology has been laid down, but it has not been given approval yet. It will have aluminum chassis, carbon fiber material which will make it just 1500 kg, Kevlar bucket seats, and will be 5 inches longer with a 2+2 seating combination — this will be a definite breakthrough if pursued by BMW.
The BMW M8 is rumored to debut in 2012.
