BMW is charting a bold course into the future of electric mobility with a groundbreaking drive concept designed for its Neue Klasse models. This fresh approach features an advanced high-voltage battery built on 800V technology, offering faster charging and extended range while seamlessly integrating into the vehicle’s design.

The innovative setup uses cylindrical cells embedded directly into the battery pack, a method that reduces weight and enhances overall efficiency. This clever integration allows the battery to serve as a core structural element of the car, paving the way for more flexible design options across various vehicle types.

Production of this next-generation technology is set to begin later this year, with series manufacturing kicking off at a new facility in Hungary. BMW’s strategy also includes a “local for local” network, establishing multiple production sites around the globe to ensure robust supply and swift adaptation to market needs.
At the heart of this advancement lies an in-house intelligent control unit. This system manages the high- and low-voltage power supply oversees data integration, and guarantees optimal electric motor and battery performance, embodying BMW’s commitment to leading the way in electric mobility innovation.
